The Tour de Rizbee 2007 was a great success!
Twenty days, 60 different courses, 1,005 holes, and we played in the World
Amateur Disc Golf Championships held in Milwaukee,
WI.
There were some new wrinkles to this year's Tour.
For a while we had felt that this trip should be about more than just us having fun - we
wanted to do some good for others as well. With that in mind
we decided that the 2007 Tour would be a vehicle for spreading the
word about disc golf, and for promoting physical activity and good
health for kids. We raised money for EDGE by holding two fundraising
tournaments. We also organized "play dates" at courses along our route,
and played disc golf with local kids.
We had some great sponsors for the 2007 Tour.
These folks helped us by donating discs, either to pass out to kids or
to use as prizes in our tournaments, giving us a venue to hold our
tournaments, or donating prizes for our tournament raffles. We
really appreciate the help of these fine folks and hope that you will
become their customers (if you aren't already).
Sponsors and Team members:
- Innova-Champion Discs - Makers of high performance golf
discs, Innova is supporting the TdR through their Tournament
Fundraiser Program and with the donation of EDGE discs for
use by new players along our route.
- Emerald Isle Disc Golf - Emerald Isle is one of
our home courses here in San Diego County and one of the
best examples in the country of a hybrid disc golf/ball golf
course. Skip Winship @ Emerald Isle is a huge
supporter of disc golf in San Diego and is stepping up again
to support the TdR. On Sunday, July 15 we will play
our TdR kick-of tournament at Emerald Isle:
- Sun Valley Golf Course - The newest disc golf
venue in San Diego County and another disc golf/ball golf
hybrid. Sun Valley has quickly become a favorite of
local players and will be hosting its first PDGA tournament
in September, the
Sun
Valley Open. Sun Valley will also host a finish
line event for the TdR on Saturday, August 4th (Whew!):
